Our new Home
We were fortunate in our rental search last July. A dentist that Thor had made contact with and became friends with told us to go look at his father's house. He said it was just now going on the market. So we went and looked and thought, wow, this is a nice big house, and maybe someday.... When we told him we really weren't in the position to buy right now he offered us a great deal. We are going to rent it until it sells. They gave us a big break on the rent and in return we do the yard work (lots of mowing and trimming) and keep the house looking good for showings. The downside is when the house sells, we go too. The realtor estimated that it would take at least 6 months or more to sell a big house like this one so we are crossing our fingers. The kids love the space inside and out. We only live on the ground level and have the upstairs available for when company comes (hint hint hint). I just keep imagining the Rock Band parties we could have here........
We also enjoy the apple and pear trees, the blackberry bushes, and tons and tons of room to run and ride bikes! The kids are filthy and exhausted every night!
The house is about 30 years old, but the kitchen was recently remodeled....granite, stainless steel (impossible to keep clean), convection oven, glass-top stove.
The old stray cat came with the house. We feed him every night. Lorili has named him "Buster." Gabe likes to pet, pull, chase, and kick the poor cat....we are working on that.

Happy Birthday...happy new(rental)house, happy new car, and happy blueberry picking! Sound like so much fun! Maybe we should move to oregon! Love the pics.
Hey Thor & Katie-
I found your blog when I was looking at the Damron's blog. So you're in Oregan, huh? Did you meet Tom and Megan Chambers in Iowa? They were in our Ward in Flagstaff. What is your email? We've seen the Damrons and the Baldwins since they've moved, but we've missed you. It was fun to see pictures of your kids.
Take care,
Amanda Rogers
It looks awesome, Katie! I especially love the kitchen, and all the fruit sounds yummy!
Nice house! I wish we'd had more gas money to have made it that far!
I think hell/Hal conversation is hilarious! hahahaha!
Is it bad that at first thought I thought she'd been hanging around Tyler? :D
Love the house!! Love the car!! Love the cat!! It was so good to talk to you last night. It sounds like things are going well. I hope you come and visit me for twilight!!!
So, the house looks so great--and just think, if you had a tornado, you could stay right there in your house and not to a smelly tornado shelter with lots of people and their pets.
All I could think when I saw your kitchen was "Katie could do a lot a damage in there." A wonderful kitchen suits you. I can't imagine all the amazing things you are cooking and baking (especially with access to awesome blueberries). I am jealous. I bought a container of blueberries at Fareway. Not good.
Some good news is I am going to attempt bakerella's red velvet cake balls this week. I finally found a red velvet cake mix at Hy-Vee. And I feel like the weathers cooled down enough, so if I leave them on someone's doorstep they won't melt. I wish I could bring some over to you and talk about Breaking Dawn, the Host, Lorili and kindergarten, Gabe's latest interests, and see all the wild life around your home. Oh, well. I'll have to settle for a phone call. Talk to you soon.
