The difference between boys and girls

Over the last two years I've really noticed a difference in girls and boys, I could even tell a difference in the pregnancy! I'm not quite decided on which I prefer to raise. Lorili was an easy baby and toddler who was very content and not very adventurous or experimental. However, now she is not so easy. She is extremly social and opinionated and we sometimes but heads. Gabe, on the otherhand, is a bit of a different story, as you've probably gathered from the other posts. He is not affraid to try something new and see how far he can go. I admire his curiousity and sense of adventure to a degree...but lately it has been wearing me out!
So here is a clue to his latest stunt that is making us laugh:

Yes, you guessed it. Last night at dinner Gabe started yelling "ow! ow! ow!" We looked over and he had his finger shoved up his nose. We took him out of the high chair and laid him on the ground. Thor sat on him while I held his head still. With a pair of tweezers and a flashlight we pulled out a bright green PEA! We could only find one, so I hope that is all he managed to get up there. The pediatrician said that if he is buggery and smelly in a week then there is probably another one up there. So we will know in a week if he is PEA FREE!

"Mommy take doggy away"

We've recently removed one side of Gabe's crib. We figured we needed to teach him to sleep in an uncontained area because we are driving across the country in our Carolla and the pack-n-play just won't fit! The first night he rolled out about 3 times, so we put the little side thingy? up and it seems to hold him in.

He loves to get in and out and I honestly think he wakes up happier than when he was in a crib (probably because I would wait until he was crying to get him out). It works much better this way for him and me! He gets up when he is ready and I don't have to stop what I'm working on to get him out.

He did super good to stay put the first three nights, but after a while he realized what freedom he really had. Naps are no problem, but at bedtime Lorili is in the room so they bounce their energy off each other and get into trouble. Gabe sleeps with two doggies, so to keep him in bed I tell him that if he gets out mommy will take away one of his doggies. I've had to do it a few times and he gets the message. So today when I put him down for his nap I said "stay in your bed" and then he said "Mommy take doggy away." What a quick learner!

We've got talent, Yes we do! We've got talent...How 'bout you?

Our ward had a talent show, and since Lorili is the only one in the family with any real talent we signed her up! Thankfully she loves this kind of stuff and had no problems performing in front of a large group. I think I must have been more nervous than her because I had her practice for me once in the morning and then once in the afternoon, and then when I asked her to do it again she got really upset and said she didn't "need" to practice anymore. Alright, so maybe I should have a little more faith in her! She did an excellent job!

Here are the lyrics (sung to "row row row your boat tune):

G-R-E-E-N, G-R-E-E-N

I know how to spell green, G-R-E-E-N!

Caterpillars are green,

And grasshoppers too!

I know how to spell green, G-R-E-E-N!

Sunny Days, Sweeping the Clouds Away!

The kids have been begging to go to the park but it has not been warm enough or dry enough. Finally! It's warm enough (and dry enough) to play outside! We ventured to the park and had lots of fun! I love this time of year-no boots, no mittens, no sweaters, no scarfs, and no slipping on the ice!

Lorili's Hair Salon

We often have friends over to play games and eat lots and lots of food. The grown-ups play card games while the kids run crazy through the house. The last time we got together we found the kids in the bathroom doing each others hair!

Boyfriends Already!?!

Lorili came home from preschool one day and announced that Carter was her boyfriend. It took Thor and I quite by surprise! So we asked her what that meant and she said "a boyfriend is when they are a boy and they are really your friend." Whew! I think we might have to alter that definition in the future, but we will leave it there for now. She will also tell you that she is going to marry her friend Joe. She says it a lot actually, and apparanly Joe is on board with the whole thing too. One day I tried to explain that marriage is a long ways away and that she could changer her mind if she wanted to. But she replied, "But then Joe would be sad!" I think we are in for it with this one. Is it possible to slow this stuff down?

Here is Carter, Lorili and Joe at her birthday party in February. I think she likes blondes!

"Gabe-Can you say Permanent?"....."pu-ma-nent!"

Yes-it was bound to happen. I was busy packing away our books, Lorili was busy accessorizing her hair with her tub of hair clips, and Thor was busy snoozing on the bed when Gabe got his hands on a permanent marker that I was using to lable boxes! Yep-it was me, I left the marker out, and Gabe wasted no time. I was taking out some boxes when he got a hold of it. I came back in to find him sitting RIGHT NEXT to Lorili, in PLAIN SIGHT of Thor (if he had been awake), and had his pant legs pulled up to his knees. He was having a splendid time and was quite upset with me when I had to wrestle the marker from his hands.

But I must say that I am thankful...thankful that he didn't color on the recently painted walls, or our newly purchased conforter, or the carpet, or any other uncleanable surface! This was a brush with disaster-and I've learned my lesson!

Perhaps we didn't punish him severely enough, do you see any remorse in that face? Not a chance! And that pen on his belly...he did that the next day while sitting on Thor's lap at the computer:) How does that happen?!?!?

"Then all three stopped dead."

And no, I'm not referring to my families reaction when I bring dinner to the table! .... What it really means is I've been tagged! And that is the 5th line on the 123rd page of the book I just finished: And Then There Were None, by Agatha Christie.

To complete this tag on your own:
1. Pick up the nearest book (at least 123 pages)
2. Turn to page 123
3. Find the 5th sentence
4. Post the 5th sentence on your blog
5. Tag 5 people

I tag...Dani, Heather, Julie, Andrea, and Sarah

Huh?

A conversation between Lorili and Gabe on our small deck, however, it seems they are worlds apart:)
L: "Gabe!"
G: "What?"
L: "Gaabe!"
G: "Whaat?"
L: "GAAABE!"
G: "WHAAT?!?"
L: "Can you hear me?"

Gabber Jabber

"I spank your bum!"
"Mamma, I'm hungry!"
"Lorili! Come here!"
"Daddy, I tried it!"
"It's broken."
"I make a basket!"
